In high school golf we aren't allowed to use GPS's or rangefinders with the slope function. Only a plain rangefinder. However I don't even use a rangefinder at all, don't see the point in it
In the bag:

The Am Tours allow you to use them as long as they don't have slope as well.

How can you not see the point? PGA pros have yardage books so they know the exact yardage to everything on the course. Each tree or bunker and how far to the green from each area and they also have pin maps so they know exactly how deep the pin is relative to front sides and back of green.

That said, the range finder basically allows you to play with the same ability to know yardage as a pro. Why does it matter? Again its am I hoping this is the right club and I hope it lands somewhere near the middle of the green because I am roughly 115-120 yards away, or do I wanna know this is a perfect smooth swing for my PW with natural hand position or choked down to get there and back up a little bit.

Remember, golf is a game of inches. Knowing the exact distance between the lip of a deep bunker in front of green and the pin being 10 feet behind that lip saved a par for me because I hit it to 2 feet, compared to hitting short into the bunker or long into the woods because I had a rough idea of the yardage.

Hope this helps,

I think the PGA should allow laser on course during the tournament for the sole function of speeding up play
