Bushnell Patriot Pack... I think the rangefinder is called the Tour V3. It's a great rangefinder, and I think some of the proceeds go to Folds of Honor which is awesome. Highly recommend it.

I was given a Nikon Range finder for Christmas last year and while it works and I can't complain about a gift, I think its more for hunting then golfing. Getting it to lock onto the pin is difficult. So instead of fidgeting with that so much on the course, I have found a couple apps.

I used Golflogix for a while and thought it was great...until I compared yardages with my cousin who has bought the $20 per year upgrade, and the yardages were 20-30 yards in difference, so I stopped trusting it so much (I knew they were probably a little off and used my eye and the markers to help me, but 30 yards off sometimes? wow).

Then the GolfFather here on GolfBalled posted about the Game Golf app. Wow. I was really impressed. Yardages seemed very accurate,it was nice to see all your stats, set target distances, see and overview of the holes, and also find out how far you really hit each club on average. It really helps seeing on (can't say paper anymore) your phone what you can work on, it helps you focus on that during your round by tagging it. Weather it's around the greens or from 150 yards out. It shows you at the end if you need work on Scrambling, greens in reg, or fairway accuracy.

All in all I don't like to fidget with my phone a lot during the round and finding an app that I can look at the yardage, and tag real quick is nice and will continue to use the Game Golf app as my primary tool.

I use a bushnell rangefinder. I tried messing around with some of the free apps, but always found they were not as accurate as I'd like so I splurged and got a rangefinder. I'm not exactly sure what type my bushnell rangefinder is (tour z6?), but it is very easy to use once you get the hang of it. It is very accurate and does exactly what I want. I find it easy not only to get the distance to the flag, but also easy to shoot the distances to other targets as well such as bunkers or the 150 marker. All in all, I'm a rangefinder guy.

Using this same pack... Love it except one thing.... Dusk and dawn is bad because read outs are black. I used a buddy's and he had lit up digital numbers... Liked that much better for those times and stormy days.
