TOPIC: Putter swing weight?

Putter swing weight? 6 years 11 months ago #63065

So I've sold my method core and picked up a method milled 001. It's currently only 34" (bought used) and I want to extend the shaft to 37". If/when I do this, how much does this effect weight/balance? Should I add weight to the shaft, do I need to add more weight to the head? I don't think I want an overly heavy head, but I don't want it to be too light in relation to the length?

I think I read that the balance might be wacky, because a shorter putter has a slightly heavier head? I've got lead tape but I rally don't want to add anything to the head. If I can keep it clean that's obviously preferred.

you can get caught going down the rabbit hole if you start worrying about things like the swingweight of your putter.... that's too much. Stick with how it FEELS to you and if you are making or missing putts. If it FEELS too light to you, regardless of the swingweight, make it heavier and vice versa.

Just my 2 cents.

Whelp, got the new method milled 001 in today, and put the extension in. I'm going to give it a few practice sessions before I start adding any weight. But I'm concerned that most every course I play keep the greens pretty stinkin slow. I leave putts short in general when I'm not rolling it well. So I figure a few extra grams would give the ball a little more pop. We'll see, as I would prefer to keep the putter as clean as possible. The feel of the milled face compared to the insert is crazy. I couldn't believe the difference til I compared them literally side by side. Gonna be fun practicing!

In my never ending quest to have my hoard of SeeMores feel just right, I think I have finally accomplished it for all 8 of them. I had to add a little weight to 5 of them via black tungsten squares (which blends in quite well because all of the putter heads are black) stuck in the cavity so I can't see them. 2 of them were good. The last one I went from a standard Pure to a midsize Pure which added about 12 grams to the grip weight and made the head feel a little lighter. Stuck them all on the swing weight scale and they all measure about D3 (+/- 1/2 point). I play them all at 33.75".
