I'm an upright swinger. when I get a driver with a flat lie my hands are too low so it changes my whole swing. when I get them high to match up upright swing I get the right rotation for my body and swing that I like. And it made a huge difference adjusting the 913D2. was mashing the ball consistently deep with a better flight.

See I think I understand now. By having your swing in the correct slot and your hands in the correct position you complete your turn better, creating a better release and highter swing speed?
With being more upright I get back into my slot better, almost exactly into the slot I create on my backswing. I release late and get my hands in my shot to create extra speed, with a flat swing this timing just isnt right. I can adjust to do whatever I need to with a driver, but being able to be comfortable and do what I feel I need to is what makes everything worth it and click. I dont think people really should change lie or really look into it. But if you are a compact swinger with a upright lie you will probably see some problems and same thing with an upright swinger using a flat lie.

My driver swing is very upright, like hitting an iron. I have a hard time teeing the ball up high because all I do is sky it. So I play the ball lower than most and a tad farther back. That's probably why I like my driver shaft a little shorted than most people.
cutting down a shaft usually will change the lie just because it will bring your hands up more. upright swings benefit more from short shafts. Thats why it was driving me mad thinking why am I swinging my 45.5" driver up to 10mph faster than a 46.5" driver which I thought would get me more whip and distance. It was all just put into prospective from some testing a few months ago and now with Club Wars. and now the results on the course today with the 913D2 just reinforced everything I have been pondering. Today was one of my best driving rounds in a long time. probably best since my Nike SQ days hahaha

I can't figure out how lie angle would ever affect swing speed with a driver. Speed at impact could be affected when using a club that contacts the ground such as an iron.
So youre telling me if you swing too flat or too upright your swing speed will be the same? Ive done it all and tracked all attack angles, launches, swing speeds and everything with different driver swings. Next time your on a monitor give it a try, Im sure youll be surprised at how hand position or attack angle can change your swing speed.

I didn't think about the actual swing and hand position being different. That makes more sense to me.

With club wars and me going spec crazy on drivers seeing why I hit some different. I got to the lie on them all. And after comparing my old faithful and beloved Nike SQ driver to all the others I noticed something different. The SQ has a very upright lie, which I'm a very upright swinger. and Always wondered why my club head speed on the Nike SQ was 112 but only 105 with others. Then I tooled the Adams LS to upright and my speed crept up a little more and I was more comfortable with the driver. I got home and compared the LS and my SQ, yup, the lie of the LS was now very close to my SQ. Bazing!

Then i dug deeper. The lie angle of drivers are so different it is insane!

Adams LS - 57.5º
Adams Super S - 59.5º
Callaway Xhot - 58.5°
Callaway Xtreme - 58.5°
Taylormade Stage 2 - 61.1°
Taylormade R1 - 61.1°
Ping G25 - 58.00°
Ping Anser -56.00°
Titleist D2/D3 - 58.5°
Cobra AMP Cell - .. Doesnt say

Even 1 degree is a big difference. and at 61.1 the TM Stage 2 TP has my attention and hopes for optimal swing performance. Since after comparing my SQ to last years RBZ they seem to have the same lie. This was a little education on driver lie, since even I clearly overlooked this. And is seems my search for a new driver might not be over.

Great stuff !!! I was wondering if the Lie could be adjusted on drivers then I saw this !

Our GB staff pro David told me my swing was almost identical to Webb Simpson's. so now the Titleist driver working so well for me is making a lot of sense hahaha. just checked it out his swing, and yup, very tall swinger. guess I have a player I need to load to my V1 app to start comparing and working on my swing to.
