I got to go in 2011 - it was amazing! We flew into Atlanta, hit up the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Montgomery (Capitol Hill) and Auburn (Grand National), then spent the night in Atlanta and drove down to Augusta VERY early the next morning.

If you plan to stay in Augusta, be prepared to pay $185 a night for a Motel 6. It's outrageous and they know they can get it.
Best part about Masters is the course, you won't believe the rolling hills and elevation changes. The TV just doesn't show you what it's like until you walk it yourself!!
2nd best thing about Augusta is on a practice round - you can take pictures!! No cell phones (and they do metal detectors to check) though.
Finally, the prices of everything is really reasonable. Food, drinks, etc. I bought an embroidered golf towel with the Masters logo on it for $18. You can't even buy a cheapo Callaway towel for that....and beer/s were like $3.50, chicken sandwiches were around $3.00-$3.50. Water was only like a buck-50 or so. Considering how concerts and sporting events gouge the attendees - the Masters does it right! Have a great time!!!!
