I spent the day at The Masters! I've been once before, in 2012, but seeing it again was still very special and memorable.
I started by walking the back-9, end to end, pausing on key holes like #10, going to the spot where Bubba Watson hit a huge hook out of the trees in a playoff, to win the 2012 Masters. Then made my way to Amen Corner, watching groups coming in on #11, #12 and #13. Such a wonderful 3-pack of holes! Like no other place on earth...
Made my way over to the Par 3, #16 - to watch the guys skip shots off the water and onto the green. So cool...
If you haven't seen it - check out a quick video from last year
I followed around a number of players, but a few really stood out.
Brooks Koepka looks rock solid! He is long and accurate off the tee and his putting was really incredible. Considering it was only his second time coming to Augusta - it was spot on with distance and accuracy. Jason Day was incredibly long, as was JB Holmes. I watched Kevin Na, but it looked like he was working on something, as his swing would go from amazing to almost a mishit. Jordan Spieth's wedges are dialed in!! On the driving range, he was shooting at a flag from ~130 yards out, dropping them into a 3-5' circle all day long. I followed Brandt Snedeker, Lee Westwood and David Lingmerth for some time as well, all great players. Rickie Fowler and Adam Scott were rock solid. Prior to showing up, I had Adam Scott as my 'pick' to win, but I must say that Brooks Koepka is legit and I am definitely adding him to my 'fantasy team' picks for The Masters.
The course was in PERFECT shape, not a single weed to be found anywhere. The bunkers are immaculate and the rough is in better shape than most of our courses fairways! For those who have never been .... go!! But until then, the TV just doesn't do the place justice. The elevation changes from tee to green are astounding, you just can't tell from watching it on television. When you see it for the first time, you won't believe the greens. They are perfect and roll smooth - but, LIGHTNING quick and the breaks are insane. I would compare it to putting on a pool table!
Prices for concessions remain VERY reasonable. I had a import beer, BBQ pork sandwich and a pimento cheese (tradition @ Masters) for $10!! Soda is $2.00, Turkey Sandwich is $2.50, Domestic Beer is $4.00, Import/Craft Beer is $5.00, Pimento Cheese Sandwich is $1.
If you're a golfer, then this place is probably on your 'Bucket List' of things to do before you die. I've been fortunate to have gone twice now and it was just as special this time, as it was the first! It definitely adds an extra element to watching The Masters again this year and I can't wait!!

Thats awesome PJ! Thanks for sharing! I think Koepka is going to be around for a long time. He is only going to get better. From what I hear around the tour, he is a very good "professional" and he has a lot of drive to win. I'd compare him to a Dustin Johnson but with a better "Mental make up"

And, more importantly... WE FINALLY GOT TO SEE WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE! hahahaha.

I was there as well on Monday, your comments were spot on. It was my first time going, and it was an experience unlike any other.

Watching Rory make that ace on 16 was absolutely the highlight of the day ;)
